Nestled in the heart of Bozeman, Montana, Gallatin Valley Carpet One Floor & Home has been a cornerstone of the community since its humble beginnings in 1946. Originally founded as Gallatin Valley Furniture by Don and Veronica DeCosse, the store opened its doors at 303 East Main Street, just as the world was recovering from the end of World War II. With hard work, dedication, and a commitment to quality, the business flourished, becoming a trusted name in Bozeman and beyond.
Today, Gallatin Valley Carpet One Floor & Home continues to thrive as a locally owned business, serving the flooring and home design needs of Bozeman residents while staying true to its roots.
In the early 1970s, the next generation of the DeCosse family joined the business. Don and Veronica’s son, Jim, along with their daughter Michelle and her husband Dennis Cattin, brought fresh energy and ideas to the company. Under their leadership, the business expanded from its original downtown location to a larger showroom on North 7th Avenue, reflecting Bozeman’s growth as a vibrant and dynamic community.
Key milestones during this time include:
In 2014, as Jim and Dennis prepared for retirement, the business was divided into two entities: Gallatin Valley Furniture and Gallatin Valley Carpet One Floor & Home. This transition opened the door for Stuart and Janet Beiswanger to take ownership of Gallatin Valley Carpet One Floor & Home. Interestingly, Stuart’s journey with the company began in 1991 when he worked in flooring sales under Dennis Cattin. Now, as the owner, Stuart brings decades of experience and a passion for exceptional customer service to the business.
